Brazil has experienced a significant surge in stablecoin adoption, with USDT transactions topping $55 billion in volume for Jan-Oct 2023 – 80% of all cryptocurrency transactions in the country during that period. This trend underscores the growing appetite for blockchain solutions across various industries in Brazil. This 5-month program, with Brasa Labs, aims to accelerate the Cosmos Hub’s presence and utility in Brazil by fostering a robust developer community to develop web3 solutions that can support local businesses. Targetting three major regions in Brazil – Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Curitiba – the program aims to connect with 50-100 developers and will include:
- Creation of an open-source library of educational materials on Cosmos, including tutorials, guides, and video resources.
- Nine developer-focused workshops (three in each region) on the Interchain Stack, Interchain Security, and launching in the AEZ.
- Selecting and then supporting 3-6 startups building with ATOM or in the AEZ, guiding them to develop MVPs and ultimately presenting them to investors in a Demo Day event.
This program addresses the need for specialized web3 skills in Brazil, especially as demand for blockchain solutions grows across Brazilian industries. Through practical training, mentorship, and startup support, we’re setting the stage for Cosmos Hub to become a core technology partner in Brazil’s blockchain landscape. As part of the program, our implementation partners also include two local universities – Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais) and Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (Curitiba) – as well as leading local web3 partners, including Código Brazuca and Node Hub.This team previously received a grant from us in 2023 for Cosmos Brazil: Developer Activation in Brazil. This program is assumed to run from Jan – May 2025.
