This grant is to host the first-ever Cosmos Hub Hacker House – in Barcelona, December 2024. To be hosted as part of our upcoming AtomXYZ program, this event will be a seven-day hacker house – a dedicated space for developers, builders, and blockchain enthusiasts to collaborate, innovate, and advance the ATOM Economic Zone (AEZ) ecosystem.
The event, which targets founders, CTOs, developers and DevRels, will offer a unique blend of coworking, networking, workshops, panels, and hackathons, all designed to foster growth and collaboration within the AEZ community.
The program will be split into two components – intro and education on developing with the Interchain Stack, and then a two-day hackathon to develop a product to launch in the AEZ. Some of the topics to be covered include:
- Launch a smart contract on Neutron
- Deploy a new chain on Interchain Security
- Explainer on ICS partial set security
The Web3Family family will use attendees from their 50+ past non-Cosmos events and their collaboration with two local universities as feeder channels for the hacker house. We hope to attract 100+ daily attendees at the house, Cosmos-related speakers, and projects to support by providing mentors and DevRels.
This project is one of the first events being organized as part of AtomXYZ. We are using a variable funding amount, with the team required to raise funds from other sponsors. While the approved grant amount is $40,000, this is AADAO’s maximum commitment. We will be issuing $20k in funding pre-event and then up to a further $20k post-event, depending on how much the team is able to secure from other sponsors. This page will be updated post-event to change the “Approved Amount” with the final cost.
Update post-event: Noting the variable funding amount above, this project cost a total of $28,820, against the maximum $40,000 approved. This project is now complete, with no further payments due.
