Grant Spotlight: Accelerating Cosmos Hub Adoption in Brazil

Grant Spotlight: Accelerating Cosmos Hub Adoption in Brazil

Brazil is rapidly emerging as a major hub for blockchain innovation, with stablecoin transactions surpassing $55 billion from January to October 2023—accounting for 80% of all crypto transactions in the country. This surge highlights the increasing demand for blockchain-based solutions across industries.

To further this momentum, Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO) is supporting Brasa Labs in launching a five-month initiative to drive Cosmos Hub adoption and developer engagement in Brazil.

About Brasa Labs

Brasa Labs, a core builder of the Cosmos Brasil community, aims to accelerate Cosmos Hub adoption in Brazil by creating a robust developer community and facilitating business integration through hands-on training, startup mentorship, and strategic partnerships. The team has already made significant strides in fostering Cosmos adoption through a previous AADAO grant in 2023, which successfully delivered:

  • Developer activation programs
  • Hackathons with startups
  • AI tools to onboard talent
  • Key university and community partnerships

Building on this momentum, Brasa Labs is set to scale these efforts further, ensuring that the Cosmos Hub continues to gain traction among developers, entrepreneurs, and institutional partners across Brazil.

Driving Hub Adoption

The core mission of this latest AADAO grant of $35,000 is to accelerate Cosmos Hub adoption by establishing a structured educational program, supporting startups, and expanding ATOM’s presence in the Brazilian blockchain ecosystem. The initiative will focus on:

  • Training 50–100 developers in 3 different states across Brazil, equipping them with Cosmos SDK, CosmWasm, and interchain development skills.
  • Creating an open-source educational library, featuring tutorials, guides, and video content to support ongoing learning.
  • Hosting nine developer workshops (three per region) focused on the Interchain Stack, Interchain Security, and launching in the ATOM Economic Zone (AEZ).
  • Supporting 3–6 startups in building Cosmos-powered applications, guiding them from MVP development to a Demo Day with investors.
  • Establishing partnerships with key institutions as Federal Universities and Web3 hubs.

By focusing on education, business integration, and developer enablement, this grant will provide a strong foundation for the Cosmos Hub to become a staple of the Brazilian blockchain industry.

Looking Forward

With AADAO’s support, Brasa Labs’ initiative will serve as a catalyst for Cosmos hub’s expansion in Brazil, fostering developer growth, business partnerships, and startup innovation. By tapping into Latin America’s dynamic tech landscape, we are positioning Cosmos for sustained, strategic impact in the region.

About the Atom Accelerator DAO

Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO) is a governance-mandated DAO of the Cosmos Hub. We have been formed and mandated to drive value for the Cosmos Hub and ATOM, supporting initiatives that either directly create economic impact or produce value that can drive its growth. From this, our current primary mandates are public grants and venture grants.

*Note: Starting January 1st 2025, AADAO has been sunset and is in maintenance mode, no longer accepting new grant applications.

In 2023, we deployed $3.8 million in grants to 39 recipients – resulting in, among other things – a $22m USD airdrop to the Community Pool, an AEZ Accelerator program to expand the AEZ, a successful hackathon with 42 project submissions bringing innovations to the AEZ – and many other key initiatives. Read about them in our 2023 Impact Report.
