At Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO), we pride ourselves on nurturing innovation and empowering developers to push the boundaries of what’s possible with the Cosmos Hub.
This year, we supported the Hackmos Cosmos Hub track, a platform for builders to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills in decentralized technology.
In this blog, we’re excited to highlight the top winner, Memehero, and the exciting building they’re doing around the Hub.
Entering Hackmos
For the founder of Memehero, their journey to Hackmos was fueled by global connections and a deep-seated passion for blockchain innovation. As a seasoned developer with a history in blockchain infrastructure and validation at a41, they had been operating in the Cosmos ecosystem for years.
Inspired by opportunities uncovered through collaboration and networking at international crypto events, including those led by the Ludium team, Memehero’s founder saw a natural fit in Hackmos.
The Vision Behind Memehero
The idea that propelled Memehero to victory stemmed from a simple yet powerful observation: while meme culture thrives on chains like Solana and Ethereum, the Cosmos Hub lacks a vibrant meme ecosystem.
Memehero’s solution? A meme launchpad as an app chain—a platform designed to foster creativity, community engagement, and the exhilarating spirit of degen culture.
This launchpad includes features like meme token pools integrated with Osmosis, enabling users to create and trade high-risk, high-reward assets that encourage a sense of FOMO.
The Building Process: Behind-The-Scenes
Memehero’s development process focused on simplicity, leveraging the familiar Go programming environment and the seamless performance of the Cosmos SDK. The team encountered no significant technical barriers but anticipates challenges in forming long-term partnerships, such as integrating with decentralized exchanges (DEXs). At Hackmos, engaging with founders from projects like Neutron proved invaluable, offering insights and networking opportunities that Memehero plans to carry forward.
Key Achievements and Impact
Winning first place in the Hackmos ATOM track stands as Memehero’s most significant milestone to date. However, their contributions go far beyond accolades:
- Ecosystem Enrichment: Memehero’s launchpad and associated tools bring a much-needed sense of fun and experimentation to the Cosmos Hub, creating opportunities for users to engage in high-energy, speculative activities.
- Filling the Gaps: While DeFi services in Cosmos are robust, the ecosystem has lacked services that appeal to the “degen” audience—a gap Memehero is determined to close.
Future Plans: Expanding the Playground
The immediate roadmap includes launching the meme service on the Base chain early this year as a proof of concept before expanding to a multi-chain model. Memehero envisions the Atom Economic Zone (AEZ) bustling with diverse Web3 services, and their work is a testament to this goal.
Advice for Aspiring Builders
To those considering building on the Cosmos Hub, Memehero offers a piece of wisdom:
“Spend time thinking about what kind of services could bring more liquidity into the Cosmos ecosystem.”
By addressing unmet needs and fostering innovation, developers can drive the next wave of growth for the Cosmos Hub and its community.
AADAO’s Commitment to Builders
Supporting initiatives like Hackmos is central to AADAO’s mission of catalyzing innovation and economic growth for the Cosmos Hub. By spotlighting success stories like Memehero, we hope to inspire more developers to explore, experiment, and expand what’s possible within the Cosmos ecosystem.
Stay tuned as Memehero brings their meme launchpad to life, setting the stage for a livelier and more diverse AEZ.
About the Atom Accelerator DAO
Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO) is a governance-mandated DAO of the Cosmos Hub. We have been formed and mandated to drive value for the Cosmos Hub and ATOM, supporting initiatives that either directly create economic impact or produce value that can drive its growth. From this, our current primary mandates are public grants & venture grants.
*Note: Starting January 1st 2025, AADAO has been sunset and is in maintenance mode, no longer accepting new grant applications.
In 2023, we deployed $3.8 million in grants to 39 recipients – resulting in, among other things – a $22m USD airdrop to the Community Pool, an AEZ Accelerator program to expand the AEZ, a successful hackathon with 42 project submissions bringing innovations to the AEZ – and many other key initiatives. Read about them in our 2023 Impact Report.
