Grant Spotlight: La Multisig Expanding the Hub to LATAM

A key aspect of expanding the Cosmos Hub’s ecosystem lies in fostering international community growth. We at Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO), are dedicated to supporting initiatives that enrich the Hub and Atom Economic Zone (AEZ), prioritizing projects that drive infrastructure enhancements and foster new use cases to boost on-chain activity.

With our recent grant awarded to La Multisig, a Web3 media hub for LATAM, we anticipate further expanding the Hub’s presence in this vibrant and emerging Web3 community. In the blog below, we spotlight La Multisig’s upcoming initiatives in Argentina aimed at increasing Cosmos Hub awareness and facilitating onboarding.

Introducing La Multisig

Founded in 2021, La Multisig is a leading Web3 media hub focused on the Latin American market. Known for organizing impactful events and hackathons, such as ETH Argentina’s Buildathon with 400+ builders and 2,500 attendees for their main event, La Multisig bridges the gap between decentralized technologies and local communities.

They also host technical workshops like the ink! workshop at the Polkadot Blockchain Academy in Buenos Aires, and actively participate as MCs, speakers, and moderators at conferences such as Cosmoverse and LABITCONF.

In a strategic move to bolster the Cosmos Hub’s presence and developer onboarding in LATAM, La Multisig will spearhead two significant in-person events. By leveraging an AADAO grant of $12,000 USDC, these events aim to spark and sustain a vibrant ATOM community in the region.

Expanding the Hub’s Reach in LATAM

With growing interest in decentralized technologies and digital assets, Latin America is becoming a key area for blockchain adoption. Argentina, in particular, has over 115,000 software developers, making it one of South America’s leaders in tech talent growth.

Additionally, about one-third of the population in the region uses stablecoins for daily transactions, showing a strong acceptance of digital currencies amid economic instability. Overall, it’s a large community ready to be engaged, but there is still a gap in awareness and understanding of specific blockchain ecosystems like the Cosmos Hub and AEZ.

The main goal of La Multisig’s initiative, in collaboration with AADAO, is to improve user and developer onboarding within the Cosmos ecosystem across Latin America, beginning with two in-person events in Argentina.

By using their extensive network and expertise in events and marketing, La Multisig is determined to educate and empower the Argentinian community about the transformative potential of Cosmos. By backing these events, the AADAO further supports this enhancement, ensuring that the Latin American community can actively contribute to and benefit from the evolving Cosmos Hub and AEZ.

Event-Driven Impact

The first event, a small-scale gathering in Buenos Aires, will pave the way for a larger mid-sized event later in the year. It aims to foster deep interactions and discussions about the Cosmos ecosystem, encouraging the emergence of new projects within the community. The second event will provide a dynamic platform for a broader LATAM audience to engage with Cosmos through presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Both gatherings are designed to raise awareness about the Cosmos ecosystem, facilitate onboarding of new users and developers, and promote active engagement within the LATAM Cosmos community. Goals include attracting at least 50 attendees per meetup, delivering valuable educational content, and fostering positive community feedback and participation.

Looking Forward

“Looking beyond the immediate goals of this grant initiative, we envision our efforts significantly impacting the growth and sustainability of the Cosmos ecosystem in Latin America. This event could unleash Argentina’s potential, especially with a new government that is friendly toward technological innovation and economic freedom.”

By supporting events that provide the best framework for building appchains, sovereign rollups, or decentralized apps on top of Neutron, the AADAO and La Multisig strive to empower Argentinean users to leverage the full potential of the Cosmos ecosystem.

About the Atom Accelerator DAO

Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO) is a governance-mandated DAO of the Cosmos Hub. We have been formed and mandated to drive value for the Cosmos Hub & ATOM, supporting initiatives that either directly create economic impact or produce value that can drive its growth. From this, our current primary mandates are public grants and venture grants.

Atom Accelerator’s venture arm, strategically invests in promising early stage web3 founders and startups both within and outside of the Cosmos Hub’s ecosystem. Offering expertise, guidance, and support as experts within the Cosmos ecosystem while driving value towards Atom.

In 2023, we deployed $3.8 million in grants to 39 recipients – resulting in, among other things – a $22m USD airdrop to the Community Pool, an AEZ Accelerator program to expand the AEZ, a successful hackathon with 42 project submissions bringing innovations to the AEZ – and many other key initiatives.
